Daniyal Aziz announces to sue ICIJ

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz has said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders have also been named in the Panama Leaks, adding that the ones associated with these parties are directly involved, whereas Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is not directly involved, reported local media.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said that Terms of References (TORs) will be changed if court orders to do so. Furthermore, he added that International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has also failed in its investigation and that the party has started legal proceedings against the firm and that the company has been making factual errors.

Showing the documents of ICIJ he said that PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi also owned an offshore company since past three years.

He further stated that PTI leaders Jahangir Tareen and Aleem Khan have also been named in the leaks and are now making excuses. He added that Aleem Khan even accepted that he has his wealth saved in offshore companies and now promises to bring his money back. Jahangir Tareen bought the property and paid its price five years later through an offshore company, he added.

He questioned Aleem Khan that why had he not brought the money back despite all the poverty and inflation in the country. Criticising PTI, he said that the laws legislated since 1947 have been discarded by the party as it has implemented new ones because corruption would be much easier for them this way.

He said that Order 2002 has been implemented in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) which was legislated and implemented by him. Talking about police he said that he legislated the Police Ordinance in KP while local governing bodies do not need to be changed. PTI is changing the rules and regulations while no changes have been made in the bodies, he stated.

He also said that PTI, the party with developments plans in their hands, has done nothing in its province since 2013. PTI used to claim that it would eradicate corruption, poverty and provide job facilities to youth within the initial 90 days of its tenure but the party leaders did nothing but brag about their plans, he added.

He also said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz has clarified that she has no property abroad and facts have not been presented in their original form and added that Maryam should not be targeted any way regarding Panama Leaks as she is not an elected representative from the party.
