A special meeting of the cabinet committee on dengue was held on Thursday at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Raffique.
The meeting was attended by secretary primary and secondary Health Ali Jan Khan, DG Health Services Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, senior officers of the department and medical superintendents of public sector hospitals. The medical superintendents of the hospitals of other districts participated in the meeting through video link.
Secretary Dengue Expert Advisory Group (DEAG) and Associate Professor of King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Dr. Somiya Iqtidar shared the information regarding dengue patients reporting with the medical superintendents of the hospitals and provided guidance regarding the filling of outdoor and indoor form prepared for dengue patients by the DEAG.
Khawaja Salman Raffique directed all the medical superintendents to ensure filling of OPD and registration form of dengue patients and data sharing with the Punjab Information Technology Board. He directed that dengue counters and high dependency unit established in the hospitals should be kept functional.
The meeting reviewed indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance activities by the surveillance teams. Ali Jan Khan directed the officers that DHQ and THQ hospitals should send daily report regarding the suspected, probable and confirmed dengue patients to the department and PITB.
Khawaja Salman Raffique informed that as per directions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, medicines audit of the teaching hospitals as well as DHQ and THQ hospitals has been started and a Chartered Firm M/s. Earnest and Young has been assigned the target which would be completed within 10 to 12 weeks. The representatives of M/s E&Y Ali Qamar apprised the meeting regarding methodology of third party validation and medicines audit of the hospitals.
