Raisani’s aide Sohail Majeed Shah records statement

Mushtaq Raisani’s aide, Sohail Majeed Shah has revealed that Rs 26 crore out of the total cash seized from suspended Balochistan secretary finance’s residence was his share, local media reported on Tuesday.

Shah has recorded his statement before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after he was arrested earlier in Sindh’s capital.

The arrest was made after the secretary finance was nabbed last week following the seizure of around Rs 730 million cash and gold worth Rs 40 from his residence.

Sohail Majeed Shah is a government contractor who has revealed that Raisani acquired the funds from the government for a development project in Kalat. The amount was divided into four shares while the project was worth Rs 1.5 billion, he said.

The corrupt contractor revealed that key politicians were involved in the mega scandal.

Earlier, court had granted the bureau 14-day physical remand of Raisani. Balochistan government suspended the representative overnight after his arrest while Advisor to Chief Minister (CM) on Finance Khalid Langau stepped down.

Director General (DG) Tariq Khan stated that all records related to Raisani were seized, adding that there were various angles to the case and that it shall reveal new facts.

The DG assured that NAB would not succumb to pressure and that corruption in the country would be curbed. He vowed to take action purely on the basis of merit against any in-service or retired officer found guilty of corruption.
