The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a major terror bid by arresting five terrorists of a banned outfit and recovered five bombs and arms from their possession during a crackdown on Monday.
A CTD team acting on a tip-off conducted operations near the Bahawalpur Railway Station during which five terrorists belonging to a defunct organisation engaged in terror attacks in Bahawalpur and surrounding areas were arrested.
The raiding team also recovered five bombs and heavy automated weapons from the nabbed terrorists.
The detainees were shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation. According to CTD officials, more arrests were expected as investigation would proceed.
