It’s painful to mention that a women named Shahbeen Bibi burnt herself, when she was forced to accept a second marriage by her husband. According to the news report, she was “punished” by her husband over dispute every day. What is even more saddening is that police was informed about this but failed to protect the women. It is unfortunate that the incidences of violence against women are growing, and that cases of honour killing, rape, sexual abuse and acid throwing are occurring on a daily basis. Still, half of the cases are not investigated by police. It is the government’s responsibility to work for the safety of women, who are living a miserable life in society.
