The Supreme Court (SC) has given time to the counsel for Defence Minister and MNA from PML-N Khawaja Asif to review the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) report in NA-110 rigging case besides adjourning hearing of the case for two weeks.
A thee-member bench of the SC presided over by Chief Justice (CJ) Anwar Zaheer Jamali took up the case for hearing Monday.
Counsel for Khawaja Asif Rashdin Nawaz appeared in the court. He requested the court to adjourn the hearing of the case taking the plea that they have not received the NADRA report yet and, therefore, have not been able to review it.
The court expressed displeasure that this had happened with CJ Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarking: “The court cannot deliver NADRA reports to your home. You should have obtained the report on your own.”
Babar Awan, the counsel for PTI candidate Usman Dar, said NADRA report has unveiled important facts. The case has become simple following the arrival of the NADRA report, he said.
The court, while accepting the plea of the counsel for Khawaja Asif, gave him time to review the report and adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was elected as MNA on PML-N’s ticket from NA-110 constituency of Sialkot in the 2013 general elections, but his rival candidate Usman Dar has challenged the result.
