All police systems in Lahore to be customised

By using the latest technology to improve the investigation system a high level meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera was held at Central Police Office, Lahore on Monday.

Timely implementation on court orders, introduction of the central transfer and posting policy, improvement in the computerized biometric system and other IT based initiatives were reviewed.

AIG Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, AIG Operations / Investigation, Capt (R) Arif Nawaz, DIG Headquarters B.A Nasir, DIG I.T Shahid Hanif, DIG Operations Aamir Zulfiqar, DIG Operations Lahore, Dr. Haider Ashraf, AIG Operations Ahsan Younis, AIG Development Kamran Khan, AIG Logistics, Humayun Bashir Tarar, AIG Finance Hussain Habib Imtiaz, AIG Complaints Syed Khurram Ali, AIG Legal Kamran Adil and other senior officers of CPO were also present in the meeting.

The meeting decided to introduce a centralized transfer policy which will be linked with the CPO through a main server. This will be helpful for the IGP for issuing orders of transfer or posting at any level and transparency could also be managed in this regard. In this way the approach culture will also be eliminated from the department for the officers who have a bad reputation, challaned or have a bad service record or could not get important postings.

AIG Legal, Kamran Adil told the IGP that software has been designed for the maintenance of computerized record of all pending cases in courts about the complaints of the police officers and officials. The software will also enable the department in speedy implementation on court orders and all delay tactics would be abolished.

The provincial police chief also directed the officers to utilize the latest technology during the investigation procedures. On this occasion, SSP Investigation, Waqas-ul-Hassan said that a palm scanner has been purchased for the police department which will be used on trial basis in jails and later the same will be provided to all jails and districts so that evidences and proves could be collected from the crime scene.

While taking notice of the alleged torture on accused by some investigation officers at police station, Shalimar, Lahore, yesterday, IGP directed the Dr. Haider Ashraf to suspend the concern officials and hold an impartial enquiry in this matter. He also directed to use the latest techniques and to adopt soft methods for investigation purposes instead of violence.

Meanwhile, IGP was told that all four police officials have been suspended and FIR against them was also lodged and enquiry has been started in this matter.

Keeping in view the heat wave and scorching sun, IGP directed the DIG operations to provide net P-caps to operational staff and to change Dolphin Force uniform.
