National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Friday said that those asking for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation know that they would not get a chance in the next elections if the premier completed his term.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony. Sadiq said that the people demanding the prime minister to step down just need an issue for their political survival.

Opposition says that they are on the same page, but Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is demanding the resignation of the prime minister, while Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah says he is not in the favour of PM’s resignation, he said.

While commenting on NA-122 Lahore by-election, the NA speaker said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Aleem Khan is hiding behind stay orders, adding that he should wait for the verdict if he thinks he is right.
