Five policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), were booked on Thursday after they resorted to firing in an attempt to stop a local at a checkpoint, claiming his life.
Reportedly, a local was signalled to stop his vehicle at a checkpoint but as he accelerated, the policemen opened fire at his four-wheeler, causing his death. Authorities concerned took notice of the incident after the family of the deceased person protested. A case has been lodged against the five police personnel.
