Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Thursday that people should revolt against the jirga system, which decides on the lives and deaths of the innocent and unarmed people, including women and children.
“Brutal murder of Ambreen ordered by a Jirga in Abbottabad is the worst example of how the Jirgas are trying to hold hostage the society, creating a ruthless and inhuman world,” the PPP chairman stated.
In a press statement, he said that tormentors and killers of Ambreen should not get off the hook. Both prosecution and judiciary need to play their roles and help eradicate the menace of Karo-Kari (honour-killigs) by setting an example with punishments to the culprits.
Bilawal said that the PPP has always raised voice against honour killings and jirgas. He also expressed sympathy with the family of Ambreen.
