Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Information Technology (IT), Shahram Tarakai has directed the management of IT Department to make all the necessary arrangements to provide round the clock free WiFi facility within the campuses under the “KP Open WiFi” project.
He was chairing a meeting held here on Tuesday to review progress on the developmental projects of Information Technology Department and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB).
The provincial minister further directed the high ups of both the IT Department and KPITB to set together and chalk out a feasible and tangible plan within next couple of days for the empowerment and employment opportunities for the youth of the province through the effective use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Shahram Khan said that meaningful use of ICT was the most effective way to create maximum employment opportunities for the youth and as such the present provincial government was spending huge amount on the promotion of ICT in the province with the aim to empower the young lot.
“Empowerment of youth is on the top of the priority list of the PTI-led provincial government as they are the future of our nation and as such the provincial government is investing more and more on their empowerment.”, he added.
Shahram Khan said and asked the management to design youth-oriented projects in the upcoming developmental program of the department.
The provincial minister was given detailed briefing about various aspects of the ongoing developmental project including e-governance initiative, KP security solution, computerization of arm licenses, establishment of citizen facilitation centres, office automation system ICT endowment fund, KP employees data bank etc and told that work on these projects is speedily in progress while some of them are near completion.
The minister showed dissatisfaction on the pace of work on some of the projects and directed the concerned quarters to ensure the timely completion of these projects.
He laid special emphasis on the establishment of citizen facilitation centre saying that this was a revolutionary project of public welfare as it will provide all the services including domicile certification, arm license, driving license etc to the public under one roof and directed the high ups to ensure its timely completion in all respects.
