Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Imran Khan could not defeat Nawaz Sharif through democratic means and was, therefore, resorting to using undemocratic ways.

He was talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami in his Channel 24 programme DNA on Monday.

“It is unprecedented in the history of this country that an incumbent prime minister presented himself for accountability by constituting a judicial commission,” he remarked. He further added that the opposition parties were unable to point out even a single clause of the terms of reference (TORs) which the government crafted for its own benefit.

“We are ready to go to the judicial commission but the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) is reluctant to present itself before the commission,” he commented. He was of the view that the commission does not consist of PML-N’s members as the sitting chief justice of Pakistan would head it along with other judges of the Supreme Court.

Answering a question, he said that Imran Khan’s ATM machines are the ones who belong in prison and not the prime minister.

“The PML-N has been facing abusive language from PTI for the last three years as the PTI only wants political confrontation,” he said, when asked about the usage of derogatory language by the PML-N ministers.

According to Pervaiz Rashid, the prime minister avoided the question of Arif Nizami asked in the Governor House the other day regarding the civil military relations because answering such questions may show that there is something wrong with the relationship and the PM does not want to give that impression as it is incorrect besides not being in the national interest.

“India is always on a propaganda mission to create the perception that there is something wrong in civil-military relations and the prime minister avoids answering such questions as the Indian media might try to extract something negative from the PM’s answer,” he said.
