The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday sought comments from the Drug Regulatory Authority in a case pertaining to illegal medicines factory established in residential area of the city.
The SHC bench, headed by Justice Nadeem Akhter, was hearing the petition filed by Muhammad Nasir Khan who moved the court against factory owner for illegally establishing a medicines factory in PECHS area.
During Tuesday’s hearing, the court directed the authorities concerned to provide the list of hospitals, stores and clinics where the medicines of this factory were being supplied. It also directed the Drug Regulatory Authority to make sure the submission of their comments on 26th of May 2016.
Earlier, the petitioner submitted that a man, namely Abdul Ghaffar, had established an illegal medicines factory on backside of his plot in PECHS. He submitted that he had complained to the authorities concerned so many times but all in vain. Citing the chief secretary, Karachi commissioner, KMC administrator, SBCA and Drug Regulatory Authority as respondents, the petitioner prayed to the court to take action against illegally-established factory.
