Minister says PTI could not even gather a few thousand people

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has presented himself before the judicial commission for probe into Panama Leaks because he holds a clean record.

Addressing a press conference hours before the scheduled address of PTI Chief Imran Khan at Mall Road along with PML-N leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and Talal Chaudhry, Pervaiz Rashid said the businesses of the Sharif family were well established even before the creation of Pakistan.

“Those who have gathered black money are creating hurdles in the constitution of a judicial commission comprising Supreme Court judges,” the information minister alleged.

“Those raising questions about the seed money for the business of Nawaz Sharif’s sons are tampering with the truth.”

He said his elder son Hussain was confined in Jeddah while the younger one Hassan was in London and their passports were confiscated. He said they had to settle there and start their business.

The information minister said that the forensic audit of the assets of Sharif family had been conducted three times during Musharraf’s era and twice during PPP’s.

Later, after PTI’s address, Pervaiz Rashid said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, who were making claims of gathering whole of Lahore, could not gather even a few thousand people.

Reacting to the speech of PTI chief Imran Khan in Lahore, he said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presented his children for accountability.

He said there was difference between the businesses of Hussain Nawaz and Jehangir Tareen. The former did not get his loans written while the latter had done the same, he added.

The minister said Imran Khan was talking about improving hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the last three years. He said due to virus in auto teller machines (ATMs) the face of Imran Khan had grown pale. His container would become his political graveyard, he remarked.

Earlier, Pervaiz Rashid said PTI Chairman Imran Khan had rejected the judicial commission’s Terms of Reference (ToRs) because his aides were guilty of getting their loans written-off.

He said the two close aides of Imran Khan had recently transferred money abroad, adding that the PTI chief declared such an action unlawful while his party leaders had confessed their crime and they must be held accountable for the same.

One of the two leaders was spending lavishly to meet all the expenses of Imran Khan’s kitchen to travels, he alleged.

Rashid said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership had nothing to worry about as it had faced forensic audits during the Benazir Bhutto and Pervaiz Musharraf regimes. “It was time to conduct DNA test of those who were leveling basless allegations,” he added.

The minister said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family were victimized on many occasions in the past, but on all these occasions there was nothing to prove against them.

He said the Prime Minister’s children had not left the country on their own accord but they were forced by dictator Musharraf to stay abroad. They were even denied Pakistani passports when the hard-working family was in exile, he added.

He said that the Sharif family had set up six industries in Pakistan and one in Dubai when the then Chief Marshal Law Administrator Zulfikar Ali Bhutto nationalized Ittefaq Foundry and caused a loss of billions of rupees to them. Justice was not done to the family, he added.

The minister said the former military dictator had forced the Sharif family to leave the country in 2000. He even seized their Model Town house, which was constructed when the Prime Minister (Nawaz) was studying in school.

He said Imran Khan knew of only one commission that was kick-back and how to earn it. While there was no word of commission in the dictionary of PML-N, which only knew of the commission headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, he added.

The minister said if Imran Khan while sitting in a glass house would throw stone at others then in return his house of glass would be damaged.

  1. If PTI leaders were involved in anything illegal, why did the govt. not bring a case against them. Why did all these things only came out once Nawaz was accused of illegal and corrupt activities. That alone is a charge against the govt.

  2. Whenever I see this man’s face I am reminded of a formar CM of Frontier Province now KPK!
