Filmmaker and director Ashir Azeem said on Sunday it was beyond his comprehension as to why “Maalik” was banned three weeks after its release by the government when it had been cleared for screening by the Censor Board.
Addressing a press conference here, Azeem claimed that the film had been banned by those who considered them above the law. He said that the film was based on the facts but the film crew had been punished by putting a ban on the film that depicts ongoing corruption in the country.
He said he had started proceedings to counter the ban on the movie, adding that despite offers from private TV channels he would get the ban dropped legally. On this occasion, civil society held a protest in front of the Karachi Press Club against the ban on Ashir Azeem’s film “Maalik”.
