President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government believes in dignity of labourers and is committed to providing workers better working conditions.
He said the government had resolved to provide better housing, medical and education facilities to the workforce.
“I must emphasise that workers and employers are partners in the production process and their mutual cooperation is essential for industrial and agricultural development of the country,” the president said in a message on the occasion of Labour Day.
The president noted that it was heartening to note that the government took a number of practical steps for improving the conditions of workers and further stressed upon the need to raise their skills and productivity.
“We celebrate Labour Day to pay tribute to the working men and women of our country who are central to achieving economic prosperity,” he said, adding, the day symbolised the strength and character of the Pakistani workforce.
“On this occasion while I greet the labourers and workers, I also call upon them to continue working hard for the progress, prosperity and socio-economic development of the country,” the president concluded.
