Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to tender his resignation till the completion of investigation into Panama Papers revelations.
“Mian Saab, you step down as (the) prime minister and you may re-assume the office after the completion of investigation,” Bilawal said while addressing his party’s public rally in Kotli ahead of elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The PPP chief said his party would no longer remain silent on the Panama Leaks issue, adding that the government was going through a turbulent period and would not be able to complete its constitutional term.
“The Raiwind throne seems shaking. The wall of deception is about to fall as the days of Sharif-led government are numbered. The ruling party’s demise will begin from Kashmir and will reach Pakistan from here,” he went on to say.
Bilawal alleged that the funds of the Kashmir Council were being distributed among PML-N members by the authority seated in Islamabad and that fake voter lists were being produced by registering votes of non-Kashmiri people. He said the “action replay” of the 2013 general elections was there to be witnessed in the current scenario as the PML-N was an expert in rigging.
Criticising PM Nawaz Sharif, the PPP chief said the premier did not pay attention to the education sector, as it did not involve use of steel through which he was able to gain his own profits. He said that Nawaz Sharif was not a leader, but only a businessman who knew the art of making money out of privatisation and mega projects like Metro buses and Orange Line trains.
Calling PM Sharif a friend of Indian premier Narendra Modi, the PPP chairman said that the country’s foreign policy under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership also reflected his business interests. He also claimed that Sharif never even uttered a single word against atrocities being committed by Indian troops in the occupied territory.
“Mian Saab, you talk about human rights, but you never raise voice against rights violations in occupied Kashmir,” Bilawal said as he vowed to stand by the Kashmiri people. He also observed that whenever he talked about occupied Kashmir, Indian government and media severely criticised him, but he would never stop supporting the oppressed Kashmiris.
Bilawal said that all the development done in Kashmir was during PPP’s tenure, and added that his party wanted to provide employment to the people and uplift their living standard. “I promise the Kashmiri people that whatever seems as a distant dream as of now will become a reality when PPP comes to power,” he added.
The PPP chief said that peace in South Asia would also result in peace in the Middle East. He criticised the United Nations on its inability to resolve the Kashmir dispute, observing that the global community had turned a blind eye towards the Kashmir issue.
