Staffers seized a pistol from an aide of private television channel’s anchor in Sindh Assembly during a session and the Speaker ruled to dismiss all the security staff, local media reported Friday.
Both the anchor and his aide were arrested on directives of Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal.
Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani summoned a report of the incident while the Interior Minister vowed to take action against the staffers who let the armed man in the assembly.
Meanwhile, Rangers reached the assembly after learning about the news.
Members of the assembly criticised the security arrangements while some stated that security personnel had barred the man from entering but the anchor ’got him in’.
Security guard of the assembly gate was suspended while a team led by DIG Munir Sheikh will investigate the case.
