Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Jahangir Tareen Khan on Thursday presented his tax details before the media, and then demanded of the prime minister to provide details of his assets within one week to prove the money trail for offshore companies is legitimate.

Jahangir Khan Tareen said that a media cell set up inside the PM House is creating malicious propaganda against him and other senior leaders of his party under a well-thought-out strategy to blackmail them so as to stop them from demanding a fair and transparent probe into the Panama Leaks.

FACTORY OF LIES:

Tareen made it clear that the media cell running on public tax money was involved in character assignation of politicians and preparing fake documents to blackmail political rivals.

He said they would take action against this factory of lies at the PM House, adding that they will move court after consulting with legal experts.

He said the prime minister should present himself for accountability instead of the PML-N leadership resorting to counter-allegations against him and other politicians. He vowed that he would fight against Nawaz Sharif come what may.

Dismissing reports about his own offshore companies, Jahangir Khan Tareen said that his children also have assets in London but all his assets are declared and he has made all the transactions through proper channels.

TAREEN HAS QUESTIONS:

He asked Nawaz Sharif to clear his name in the Panama Leaks controversy and tell the nation where his son had received the money from for buying the London flats.

He said that Nawaz Sharif did not mention his children’s assets which meant that he had violated his oath, adding that if Nawaz Sharif is found guilty of hiding his sons’ assets, he would automatically stand ineligible to remain member of the National Assembly. The PTI leader said that Sharif should also tell people how much tax he has paid on that money and if all the transactions were legitimate.

Tareen said that Nawaz Sharif is guilty of money laundering if he does not have proofs of funds’ transfer.

He said that he would not have been on the government’s hit-list if Mossack Fonseca’s leaked data had not targeted the Sharif family.

Tareen said he had been blamed for taking loan for a company where he only had a 10% share.

He said that there is no threat to democracy, as accountability is an integral part of the democratic process. He said the opposition parties will chalk out terms of references (TORs) for the judicial commission to probe the Panama Leaks during the parties’ meeting scheduled for May 2.

He expressed hope that the chief justice of Pakistan will not accept the TORs presented by the government.

He said that the prime minister was in the ‘dock’ and not the PTI’s leadership, adding that London flats were bought in 90s when he paid only Rs 5,000 tax every year and his children were also studying at that time.

“So, how could he have earned billions in assets,” Tareen wondered.

Tareen rejected reports about rifts within the party and said that a meeting would take place in Lahore where Chaudhry Sarwar would also be present.
