Pakistan has underscored the need for enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations Peace building Commission.
This was stated by Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi at the UN General Assembly during a review of the Commission’s activities, which was established in 2005.
She said the 31-member intergovernmental body plays an important role in improving the lives of ordinary people affected by conflict.
Pakistani envoy said lasting peace was possible only through prevention of conflict and addressing its root causes. She also stated that an enhanced role for women and youth is also critical and essential for success.
