President Mamnoon Hussain has underlined the need for capacity building for disaster management institutions to better cope with calamities.
Addressing the Surgeon General’s International Conference on Thursday, the president said that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other relevant institutions had demonstrated their ability and capability to deal with natural disasters in the past but there was a need to further enhance this capacity through training programmes.
Mamnoon appreciated the services rendered by personnel of Pakistan army particularly its medical corps in times of emergencies.
