Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said he is on a journey of Pakistan’s ‘progress and development’ and does not care for political sloganeering.
He was addressing a rally after the groundbreaking of Havelian-Thakot Motorway. The prime minister announced on the occasion that the prices of petroleum as well as electricity are not going to be increased.
The prime minister said the government has the agenda of the country’s development before it and not of sit-in protests.
“Ours is the agenda of development across Pakistan, prosperity and betterment of masses, and elimination of unemployment, and not that of `Dharnas’.”
‘PEOPLE WILL TAKE CARE OF CONSPIRATORS’:
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he was not going to let anyone sabotage the PML-N government’s agenda of people’s development, and warned political opponents of the “strong reaction of the masses”.
“I want to tell the leg pullers that if they create hurdles in the way of Pakistan’s development, the masses will throw them out,” he said while addressing a large public gathering in Dhudhial.
The prime minister asked his political opponents to fully consider their actions before taking any steps, as the masses were not ready to tolerate any hurdle in the way of development.
Nawaz Sharif said the PML-N government would continue its journey of people’s progress and prosperity, while the people will themselves tackle the conspirators.
The prime minister said the government had earlier started work on the construction of Burhan-Havelian section of Hazara Motorway and now in the second phase, work on the Motorway from Havelian to Shinkiari was being started.
He said this motorway was in no way lesser in quality than the Lahore-Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, as it was also a six-lane motorway project.
The prime minister said that after the construction of this Motorway project, the travel time from Burhan to Shinkiari will reduce from five hours to less than one and a half which will benefit the residents of the area.
He said this motorway will connect the people of the area with the rest of Pakistan, up to Karachi, through a network of roads and motorways, adding, it is a message of peace, progress and prosperity for the people of this area.
THE PROJECT:
Earlier on Thursday, the prime minister performed the groundbreaking of the Havelian-Thakot section of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Mansehra.
The 120-km long section will be completed in 42 months at a cost of Rs 133.98 billion, the PM Office said on Wednesday.
China’s Exim Bank will provide 90 per cent funding for the project while the government of Pakistan will provide 10 per cent of the cost.
The road will start from Havelian and, after passing through Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Shinkiari, will end at Thakot.
To speed up the pace of work, the project is divided into three sub sections: Havelian-Abbottabad, Abbottabad-Mansehra, and Mansehra-Thakot.
