Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Sindh Assembly asked the Sindh chief minister to sack vice chancellors of Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur and Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) Nawabshah for not attending the PAC meeting.

PAC Chairman Saleem Raza Jalbani said this while chairing a meeting held at Assembly Building on Thursday. “Repeated directions were issued to respective VCs to appear in the meeting but they did not attend it,” he said.

The PAC meeting was convened to settle audit para of irregular payments of medical allowance made by respective universities to their officers and other staff. This was the third meeting but the VCs did not bother to appear before the committee, he said.

“We are recommending to the chief minister for removing them from their seats immediately and special action should also be taken against them for not complying with the directives of the committee,”, Jalbani said. However, the director of SALU attended the meeting on behalf of the VC but the committee did not take up agenda of SALU in the meeting. No one from QUEST appeared in the PAC meeting and this attitude of the QUEST’s VC aggravated the situation and the committee urged the CM to remove both the VCs from their posts.

The audit para of Sukkur Institute of Business Administration (IBA) was settled in the meeting. Members of the committee Sardar Ali Shah, Nand Kumar, Sorath and other PAC staff attended the meeting.
