Priyanka Chopra had something to say to Donald Trump at the Time 100 Gala on Tuesday night.
The Quantico star, who graced the cover of Time Magazine’s Most Influential 100 issue, and was included in the list along with icons like Sania Mirza, Taylor Swift, Barack Obama and more, said of Trump’s proposal to ‘ban’ Muslims from America: “I just think you can’t put a ban on anyone. Generalising a type of people is really primitive.”
The fight against domestic terrorism has grown so complex that “you can’t put a face on it anymore,” she added.
Chopra has previously been vocal about how her role in Quantico (where she plays an FBI agent) has been a breakthrough for non-mainstream artists. In a video interview with Time, she says of Quantico: “When was the last time you saw an FBI agent with a hijab, you know? When was the last time you saw an Indian girl who is the headline of a show and the same time so unapologetic and bold and brazen, and not a doctor or a nerd or a computer scientist?”
Priyanka also broke the mould on the red carpet on Tuesday night as she chose to wear a white pantsuit rather than a long gown (though wearing an Indian designer would’ve worked too).
We love this superstar for voicing these opinions on her big night while celebrating yet another accomplishment.
