Opponents trying to impede country’s progress, says PM Nawaz

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that some political opponents are trying to impede country’s progress as they can clearly see their defeat in the next elections due to government’s better performance.

Addressing the Federal Cabinet in Islamabad today (Wednesday), the Prime Minister said that his government has set new standards of transparency in the developments projects.

All the internal institutions are acknowledging the economic turnaround of Pakistan, he added.

He said that energy projects worth $34 billion are Chinese investments and not loans.

He said the government will also overcome shortage of gas with in our tenure. He pointed out that from 1999 onwards, governments failed to invest in energy sectors.

The federal cabinet meeting has been summoned after a period of seven months in Islamabad to discuss Budget Strategy Paper.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the cabinet on Budget Strategy Paper.

The meeting was briefed that Chinese Council has approved $4.5 billion for projects of Sukkur-Multan and Havelian-Thakot Motorways.

  1. The illussion of tranparency, the illussion of progress,the illussion of democracy Pakistan style is mindbogling. The PM dose not attend the Parliament! Way don't the leaders of the various parties debatt the Panama leaks on the PTV so that we all decide who is being disingenious. We expect answers to questions and not commities. The country is coming to a stand still.

  2. Do the people who voted for NS under the assumption that he is honest and capable not have the right to find out if they have been duped? No answering questions about how he acquired his wealth makes one wonder. Not a good strategy on the part of a person who hopes to bring his daughter into politics some day.
