The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Tuesday approved a cut of Rs 2.84 per unit in the power tariff under the fuel adjustment mechanism.

The cost has been brought down under the head of Fuel Adjustment Charges for the month of March.

The Central Power Purchasing Authority (CPPA) has stated that there was a reduction in the electricity production cost during the month of January due to which the power tariff decreased significantly.

The revised rates will not be applicable on the customers of K-Electric and those consuming less than 300 units of electricity.

The electric power regulator had earlier approved Rs 4.36 per unit decrease in power tariff during the month of February.
