NAB committed to curbing corruption: DG

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh Director General Lt Col (R) Sirajul Naeem said on Tuesday that misuse of public office was corruption and unfortunately corrupt practices had spread like a cancer in the society.

The DG said this while addressing an awareness seminar on “controlling corruption in health sector” which was organised by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at its Ojha Campus. The seminar was organised to create awareness about corruption and its preventive measures. It was attended by a large number of students, faculty members of the university, and NAB representatives.

The NAB DG said that corrupt practices had deteriorated the country; therefore, joint efforts were needed to fight it. He informed that the NAB had also initiated anti-corruption awareness and prevention measures under which different awareness raising seminars and programmes were being organised in different colleges and universities.

DUHS Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Masroor said: “Such awareness seminars are pivotal for the eradication of corruption and greater awareness among youth.” He also briefed the participants about the history and establishments of Dow University and the progress it made over the years.

He said: “All the decisions of the university are made by the approval of syndicate committee. All the financial works of the university are audited by internal and external auditors.” Later, he appreciated the efforts of NAB in the fight against corruption. DUHS Registrar Dr Shaikh Nadeem Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
