Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan expressed resentment over felling of forests worth around Rs 200 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“Those who committed this act are even bigger criminals than those named in the Panama Papers,” said Khan while addressing a ceremony in Peshawar.

The PTI chief said that growing population and climate change impacts would affect the country, adding that Pakistan was the eighth country worst affected by environmental changes. “We have to think today, or the country will suffer a lot in the coming years if revolutionary steps are not taken,” he said.

Khan further said, “If we show improvement in tackling climate change impacts, we can get foreign funds to save the country from threats arising from growing environmental changes.”

He also said that the challenges facing the government would reflect on future generations. He also reiterated that until the tax collection process was not improved, the country would have to rely on external sources.
