Kasur child abuse case: ATC indicts five

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday indicted five accused in a case registered in connection with the Kasur child abuse scandal.

Earlier, police produced the accused, Maqsood Sindhi, Haseem Amir, Faizan Majeed, Aleem Asif and another, before ATC-IV Judge Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas under strict security.

The court indicted the accused in FIR No 248/2015, but all of them pleaded not guilty and contended to contest the charges.

At this, the court, while adjourning the matter, summoned prosecution witnesses for recording their statements.

The indictment of the accused came after the police submitted the challan (charge-sheet) against the accused in the court. The police had declared them guilty in the child abuse case.

Ganda Singh Wala/Kasur police had registered a total of 31 cases in connection with the child abuse scandal against 20 accused. Twenty-five cases were registered under sections 506, 293, 387, 386 and 377 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and sections of Anti-Terrorism Act, whereas six other cases were registered under sections of CrPC alone.
