Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday gave away financial assistance cheques to heirs of police officials who laid down their lives in the operation against criminals in Katcha area of Rajanpur district.
Sharif, speaking during a ceremony held at Police Lines, said that law enforcers were tightening the noose around facilitators of terrorists to achieve the ultimate target of elimination of terrorists. He said the whole nation was proud of sacrifices being rendered by the police and army.
The CM gave away a cheque of Rs 9.5 million to heirs of martyred Hanif Ghauri, SHO of Bangla Ichcha police station. Financial assistance of Rs 7.5 million each was given to heirs of other police martyrs, including head constable Muhammad Ajmal and constables Amanullah, Muhammad Tariq, Shakeel Ahmad, and Qazi Ubaidullah Faheem.
The CM also distributed Rs 1 million cheque of each among those policemen injured in the operation in Katcha area of Rajanpur. These included elite force constables Tanvir Ahmad, Aftab Ahmad, Saeed Ahmad, Muhammad Ishaq, Saifullah, Zabihullah of Punjab police and police boatman Haq Nawaz.
CM Sharif said that lists of terrorists’ facilitators were being prepared to cripple their ability to facilitate terrorists. He made it clear that the government would not tolerate black sheep in the Police Department and such elements would be thrown out. Sharif also lauded the army on its success in the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
He said that an effective strategy was being pursued in a coordinated manner to eliminate terrorists and hardened criminals, adding that the government was also taking steps to overcome poverty and improve financial conditions of the poor.
Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, MNA Sardar Jafar Khan Leghari, MNA Dr Hafeezur Rehman Dareshak, MPA Sardar Atif Khan Mazarin, DIG DG Khan Rehmatullah Khan Niazi, DPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan were also present at the ceremony.
