Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that instead of forming a commission to probe Panama Papers scandal, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked the Supreme Court chief justice to probe all financial sandals since the creation of Pakistan.

“What does the prime minister want to hide” by asking to probe every financial scandal, Bilawal questioned in a message on Twitter on Sunday.

Bilawal said that he had asked the People’s Lawyers Forum to provide legal aid to Okara farmers who were facing concocted terrorism cases.

In a statement released here, Bilawal said the Nawaz Sharif government seemed to be selling profit-making units with one hand and buying with the other, perhaps to set up more offshore companies.

He said the Nawaz government was bent on snatching the livelihoods of the working classes and selling national assets to his own party’s business groups and entities.

He expressed solidarity with the protesting dockyard workers of Port Qasim and asked the federal government to halt the privatisation of port berths. He warned that his party would not allow usurpation of the rights of workers.

“The PPP won’t tolerate such moves and stand by the workers in their legitimate protest movement,” he added.

He recalled that the PPP had the distinction of always protecting the interests of workers by bringing in labour reforms.

Bilawal assured the Port Qasim dockworkers that their problems would be raised at every available forum.  “The PPP won’t leave them alone in their just struggle,” he added.
