Police on Sunday arrested a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) district councillor in connection with party lawmaker Sardar Soran Singh’s murder earlier last week.
According to details, Baldev Kumar was arrested in Barikot area of Swat district and later shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
Besides, two more suspects were arrested from Buner district.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for the assassination of the PTI lawmaker.
Soran Singh, special assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on minorities’ affairs, was gunned down in a targeted attack in Pir Baba area on Friday.
Singh belonged to the Sikh community and joined the PTI in 2011 after being associated with Jamaat-e-Islami. He held one of several seats reserved for religious minorities in the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
