Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Monday has shut down out-patient departments (OPDs) at all the governmental hospitals to mark protest against torture on their colleagues.

According to details, young medical practitioners have stated that the OPDs have been closed for indefinite time period. Patients who have travelled from far flung areas to get their family members checked at the hospital are facing issues due to the hooliganism.

The doctors association is holding strike against senior doctors’ torture on their colleagues in Sargodha and General Hospital in Lahore.

Earlier, YDA protest claimed four lives in Sargodha District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) as emergency and outpatient department (OPD) were shut.

The association protested against colleague’s dismissal and attempted to shut the services at hospital. Medics on duty resisted against association’s rowdy behaviour. Clash was intensified when protesters manhandled the senior doctors.

On the other hand, doctors in Faisalabad also locked up OPDs in civil and Allied Hospital for the same cause. Thousands of patients returned to their homes without being unattended due to the strike.

The provincial government was seen quiet over the issue as no action has been taken to handle the situation.
