5.8 magnitude earthquake jolts part of KP

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale rocked different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on early Monday morning, local media reported.

The tremor was felt in Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Chitral, Malakand, Bonair, Shagla, Swabi, Lower Dir and their surrounding areas.

People came out of their homes in panic and started reciting verses from the Holy Quran. No loss of life was reported due to earthquake till filing of this report.

According to National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the quake which struck at 02:43am on Monday was located in Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region at the depth of 116 kilometre.
