Young Doctors Association’s (YDA) protest has claimed four lives in Sargodha District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), as emergency and outpatient department (OPD) were shut.
The association protested against a colleague’s dismissal and attempted to shut the services at hospital. Medics on duty resisted the association’s rowdy behaviour. Clash was intensified when protesters manhandled the senior doctors.
Stampede and fracas landed the medics out of the hospital leaving the patients unattended.
Four patients, under treatment in emergency ward, died due to non-provision of timely treatment. Heavy contingent of police reached the hospital and took several people in custody.
Hospital services were resumed when the assistant commissioner paid a visit to the site. Some doctors hauled away hospital’s record and fled the scene. Hospital’s administration has sought registration of a case against the culprits.
Patients who have travelled from far flung areas to get their family members checked at the hospital are facing issues due to the hooliganism.
