The Sindh government bowed down before varsity teachers and withdrew its decision of direct appointment of pro vice-chancellor in University of Sindh Jamshoro a few days back after the universities’ teachers observed a black day in Sindh’s all universities, suspending academic activities on April 18.
According to official sources, the Chief Minister House Secretariat has cancelled the order of posting of Dr Imdad Ismaili as Pro-VC in UoS Jamshoro and formally issued notification to the university after the protest call announced by the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Association (FAPUASA) in Sindh’s all universities.
Talking to PPI, NED Teachers Association’s (NETA) President Dr SM Usman Ali Shah, who is executive member of FAPUASA, confirmed it and said that Secretary to Chief Minister on Boards and Universities Iqbal Durani, Principle Secretary to Sindh Governor Muhammad Hussain Syed and other senior officials had conducted an official meeting with FAPUASA’s representatives last day and assured them for bringing early amendment in University’s Act 2013 from the provincial assembly.
A delegation was led by FAPUASA’s President Dr Naimatullah Laghari and other representatives including Sindh Chapter President Dr Irfana Malah, KUTS’s President Dr Shakeel Farooqi and Dr Usman.
He said the FAPUSA would soon send them recommendations for amendments in the University’s Act 2013.
