3 FCS men remanded to police custody on terror charges

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday handed over three employees of Fishermen Cooperative Society (FCS) to police on seven-day physical remand for their alleged involvement in extortion and funding to separatist militants of Balochistan.

The FCS employees – Saeed Baloch, who is also the general secretary of Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum, Mahar Bukhsh and Dil Murad – were produced before the administrative judge of ATC after expiry of their 90-day preventive detention in Rangers’ custody.

The investigation officer of police requested the court to remand the accused to their custody as they were required for further interrogation. The court accepted the police’s request and remanded the accused to Kalri police for the period of seven days. It also directed the investigators to submit progress report in next hearing.

According to the investigators, the suspects were involved in funding Lyari gangsters and separatist militants of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Besides the above-mentioned suspects, former FCS chairman Nisar Morai is also involved in terrorist activities as he is currently in Rangers 90-day detention for his alleged involvement in offences falling under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
