Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Thursday staged protests across the country to protest stagnant salaries and to call for a better service structure.
Young doctors in Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad took to streets, demanding to raise their incentives and other facilities.
The protesters, who were carrying placards inscribed with their demands, chanted slogans against the provincial governments for failing to raise their salaries.
In Lahore, the doctors protested outside Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospital and blocked the main roads. The protest irked the locals and sparked an exchange of harsh words.
In Gujranwala, medical practitioners closed OPD and led a rally for the same cause.
Separately in Faisalabad, doctors said that the Punjab government made tall claims of improving the health facilities but no action had been taken in this respect so far. They also held a sit-in at Jail Road.
The protesters urged the government to withdraw the 15 per cent cut from hospitals’ budget and to promote the young doctors to BPS 18.
Meanwhile, the hospital administration had to make arrangements to examine the patients in the outdoor, but the shortage of doctors added to the sufferings of the patients.
