Punjab Minister for Food Bilal Yasin said a strict monitoring policy has been devised to make the wheat procurement process transparent and successful.

Talking to journalists at the Circuit House on Thursday, Bilal Yasin said that gunny sacks distribution would be started from April 25 across the province.

He said that gunny bags would be given to small growers who own less than 12.5 acres of land during the first five days for optimum facilitation.

The provincial minister said that political influence will not be tolerated at any stage of wheat procurement, especially during gunny bags distribution.

He said that labour charges had been increased to Rs 9 from Rs 7.5, adding that Additional District Collectors (ADCs) of 36 districts across the province have been deputed as focal persons in their respective districts during the procurement.

“The data of three million growers is available with Punjab Food Department,” he said, adding that the growers would receive calls from the CM Secretariat after the gunny bags have been released and they can lodge a complaint if they face any problems.
