Balochistan is a well-endowed province with much potential for progress although the people here still do not getting full rights as citizens of the state and are being ignored by the provincial government. A statement was recently given by PCB that a cricket coaching and training camp for Pakistan cricket board’s under-17 national championship for women in Karachi was being conducted. The statement also said that those who will be part of the programme will be trained and selected by the national selection committee. It is painful to mention that it seems that there is going to be no representation of Balochistan in this training programme. There are plenty of Baloch youngsters who possess talent in cricket – as well as in other areas – but have no opportunities to showcase it. When our youth are not provided with platforms to explore and exercise their various recreational interests, they turn to violence and other criminal activities. It is my humbly request to Balocistan government to ensure that the province’s youth are not ignored and that recreational programmes are established for them.
