Says TDAP has failed to develop sustainable and result oriented export promotion plan

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has resigned from the Board of Directors of the Trade Corporation of Pakistan (TDAP), saying the body had failed to develop a consistent, sustainable and result oriented export promotion plan at a national level.

In his resignation letter, Senator Mandviwalla said that TDAP is a failed, useless body and a burden on the national kitty. “Its performance is very poor and no one implements the decisions of the BOD of TDAP,” Mandviwalla said in his resignation letter submitted to Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani.

Mandviwalla demanded the government shut down TDAP and use the funds allocated to the body in public welfare projects. He alleged that TDAP funds are only being used for political reasons and for a certain section of the business community.

In his resignation letter, Senator Mandviwalla said that since his nomination as member of BOD, TDAP could only manage to conduct one meeting which was held on December 01, 2015 during his official visit to Germany.

“Although I had requested the TDAP secretary to change the date of the board meeting, the meeting was conducted on the announced date in my absence,” he said.

He said that according to the rules, the chairman must hold a BOD meeting not less than once every three months but no other meeting was conducted after Dec 1, 2015.

Mandviwalla was appointed a member of the TDAP Board of Directors on September 2, 2015.
