Officials told to prepare legal regime for approval of building plans in industrial areas

Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmed Khawaja has ordered officials to prepare legal regime for approval of building plans in different industrial estates of the province so that new industrial units in industrial areas be constructed in a safer manner and there should be no chance of any vocational disaster for workers and labourers.

He issued the orders during a consultative meeting with senior officers of concerned officials and prominent industrialists at Civil Secretariat, here today. He said that before giving a final shape to legal regime, building plans in other provinces be benefitted and the contrary models in India and China examined. He also directed to start project of geo-tagging of the buildings in industrial estates of the province. Urban Units and PITB will provide technical collaboration in this regard. The meeting decided that the assessment of the existing capacity for building control divisions of the industrial estates be made and necessary gap be addressed. The standardization boards be placed outside of each industrial estates indicating the status of social, environmental buildings and other compliances. The TMAs concerned should declare the notification of industrial estate offices as sub offices and provide necessary support for the process of application. Automation and digitalization for the process be carried out and information for the public, various compliance of industrial estates as well as the industrial units.

The consultant of building control divisions in each industrial estate should provide monthly certificate that no building has been constructed in the contravention of building control regulations. PIEDMC, FIEDMC and PSIC should carry digitalization process of the organization and necessary data be made available online.
