A Islamabad High Court (IHC) single bench of Justice Aamir Farooq on Thursday will hear a plea seeking orders to restrain Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) from holding a political gathering at Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9 Park).
Petitioner Waheed Mehmood Khan, through his counsel Yasir Mehmood Chaudhry, filed the petition in the IHC on Tuesday, praying that the Interior Ministry be directed to provide some other suitable location to hold the gathering instead of Fatima Jinnah Park.
The registrar office, however, raised the objection of locus standi on the plea.
The objection was removed by the registrar on Wednesday when Yasir Chaudhry, citing the precedents of Pakistan Law Digest (PLD) 2013 Imran Khan v/s ECP, and PLD 1988 page 416 Benazir Bhutto v/s federation cases, said the registrar office could not raise the objection of locus standi in cases of public importance.
Yasir Chaudhry thinks that any gathering or sit-in at Fatima Jinnah Park would eventually destroy its natural beauty, greenery, trees and grass.
He clarified that he was not against any political party holding political gathering, as was their constitutional right but such meeting at parks would ultimately harm natural beauty.
