IHC reserves judgment about PTI public meeting in F-9 Park

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment in a case filed against the public meeting of PTI in F-9 Park.

When IHC judge Amir Farooq took up the case for hearing on Thursday, Yasir Mehmood counsel for the petitioner Waheed Mehmood Khan argued that the F-9 Park was a recreational place and it could not be used for political purpose. If permission was accorded to hold the public meeting at recreational parks then these sites will become political parks, he argued, “Children and old people come to the park for recreational purpose. The citizens were already recuperating from mental agony of sit-ins stage at D Chowk in the past.”

He argued that the park should be meant for recreational facilities rather than public meetings. “If any political party wants to hold public meetings then the government should allocate site for this purpose.”

The judge inquired where was the copy of a notification giving permission for holding the public meeting. “We cannot give decisions merely on the basis of a news reports about the permission,” the judge said.

The court reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments.
