The Punjab government has decided to conduct an enquiry into the dismal performance of Punjab Police in the Chhotu Gang operation.

According to details, the Punjab government has decided to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe the reasons for the dismal performance of the police.

The operation, which lasted nearly 23 days, had left the provincial government red-faced after seven policemen were killed and 24 others were taken hostage by the dacoits.

The JIT will not only focus on the results of the operation against Chhotu Gang but it will also probe the reasons for the capture of the police raiding party. According to a source, the JIT could be headed by a senior police officer.
