Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that Pakistan could become the next energy corridor for the region as a result of China Pakistan Economic Corridor and other inter-regional projects like TAPI and CASA 1000.
He was addressing a conference on oil and gas in Islamabad on Wednesday. The minister said that the government had introduced a proper mix of clean and affordable energy to meet future energy requirements. He said the LNG-based power plants were being installed in the country, while indigenous resources were also being exploited to overcome the power crisis. He said that coal mining had been started in Thar for the first time which will turn the desert area into hub of energy.
