Provincial Minister for Higher Education Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that Pak-China friendship is deep-rooted and time tested, adding that efforts are being made to introduce the Pakistani people to the Chinese culture and heritage. She said that Chinese art and culture contests are being arranged so Pakistani youngster can develop understanding of the Chinese cultural heritage and traditions in addition to benefitting from the Chinese technology and research.
She expressed these views while speaking at a poster-making competition on the topic of Pak-China friendship organised by Punjab Information and Culture Department and Punjab Council of the Arts at Lawrence Garden open air theatre. Begum Zakia Shanawaz said that art and culture of China is very rich and there is a need to introduce it to the nation so that bonds of friendship between the two countries could be further strengthened.
The minister said that cooperation between China and Pakistan in the fields of education, science, research and economy is commendable, adding that the exchange of art and culture of Pakistan and China will highlight the cultural heritage of both the countries.
The minister awarded prizes to the position-holders in the competition and also gave away special prizes to 25 boy and girl students. Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Rana Muhammad Arshad, Additional Secretary Information and Culture Shahid Iqbal, Executive Director Punjab Council of Arts Ch. Muhammad Asif and a large number of teachers, students and people from different walks of life were present on the occasion.
