Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday affirmed that Panama Papers do not feature his name as owner of offshore companies. He underscored need for an independent commission for investigation.
The PM said this while speaking to reporters in London before leaving for Pakistan.
The PM stayed for a week in London where he underwent heart checkup. But there were reports in Pakistan that political leaders will hold secret meetings in the UK capital.
“Thank God, I had my checkup, I’m all right now and leaving for Pakistan,” the PM said while replying to a question about his health.
Regarding possibility of an inquiry commission under Chief Justice of Pakistan, he said the Supreme Court has already clarified that it’s not possible.
“The commission will surely be formed, and I’m in favour of it, but what to do with those immature politicians who had even refused judgment of rigging commission in the past,” the PM said.
“Pakistan’s development should not be hindered. The nation does not support dharna politics, they want peace and prosperity,” he said, while replying to a question about opposition’s pressure on him to step down.
Two sons and a daughter of the PM have been named in the mass leak of offshore account data from the Panama firm Mossack Fonseca.
There is a differnce between perception and reality. The perception is that PM and his Family are involved in Panama scandal. The realty is as the PM says that he is not implicated. Some hard questions have to be answered.
Such childish comments do not behove a Prime Minister whose entire family is neck deep in money laundering.
Beyond perceptions and realities lie a territory called 'facts'. In this case the Panama Paper have leaked hardcore facts that no one has challenged for its authenticity. And given the vast web of lies and contradictions from people defending the Sharif family, the 'reality' is staring us all in the face and yet everybody is waiting for 'answers'. Good Luck with that.
