Former military strongman General (r) Pervez Musharraf on Monday submitted an application seeking 14 weeks of immunity from appearing in court in the high treason case.
Musharraf’s lawyers submitted in the plea that their client had gone abroad for medical treatment and will not be able to appear in the hearing scheduled for April 19 so he may be given relief for 14 weeks from showing up at proceedings.
Rashid Qureshi, Musharraf’s guarantor, stated that the special court did not prohibit the movement of the former president. He added that Musharraf was granted immunity on March 31, 2014, by the court from showing up at the hearing of the case and that he has gone abroad for his treatment with the approval of the Supreme Court and the complainant Ministry of the Interior.
