Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Tuesday informed the Senate that the arrest of RAW agent Kulbhushan Jadhav was a major breakthrough which has led to other leads and network of foreign agents which were being dismantled.

He said investigations were underway and Pakistan was also raising the issue at various forums.

He said the government had indisputable and un-impeachable evidence regarding India harbouring terrorism in Pakistan.

The minister was opposing an adjournment motion moved by Senators Mohammad Mohsin Leghari, Muhammad Azam Swati, Mohsin Aziz, Sehar Kamran and Hafiz Hamdullah respectively to discuss the activities of RAW in Balochistan and arrest of RAW agent from there.

Khwaja Asif said he opposed the adjournment motion due to sensitivity of the issue and also because Senate Standing Committee on Defence has been briefed on the matter.

He said the RAW agent was involved in terrorist activities and sponsoring subversive activities in Balochistan in support with terrorists in Balochistan.

He said Pakistan had already presented dossiers to the UN and US against involvement of India in terrorist activities in Pakistan while such more dossiers would also be presented after getting further information from the spy agent Jadhav.

The chairman, however, ruled that if a standing committee can be briefed, then there was no justification not to brief the entire House.

He held the motion in order and ruled that discussion on the motion would be held in-camera on Wednesday (today).

The chairman held inadmissible another adjournment motion moved by Attique Sheikh regarding construction of 1200 mw coal power plant at Sahiwal.

Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif dispelled apprehensions of the mover regarding the plant and said there was no liability of the federal government in the project as it is a project of Punjab government.

He said it was environment-friendly project and explained that emissions from the plant would be within permissible limits and its tariff would be competitive.
